Mark Schianca began his artistic career as a graphic designer after receiving a BFA in graphic design from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He spent most of his career in marketing and advertising, only recently returning to his true passion for painting.
Whether it be his architectural paintings or his playful renderings of vintage swimwear, his influence as a graphic designer is apparent in the execution of his work.
“Having spent most of my summers on Cape Cod and in Provincetown, Massachusetts, I have always been fascinated with the simplicity of coastal New England architecture and the effect light has on these simple structures. My paintings capture their character in a realistic and simple graphic style”.
Schianca most recently served for six years as the Director and Curator of Grand Circle Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts, which exhibited an extensive collection of vintage travel posters and other travel-related artwork and photography.
